Once you arrive on Eleuthera, you have three modes of transportation: foot power, taxi/tour or vehicle rental.

WALKING
One of the best things about staying at The Duck Inn in Governor's Harbour is the proximity of essential goods and services an easy walk away. Two grocery stores, a bank, several boutiques, restaurants and bars are just minutes away. There's even a movie theater. Governor's Harbour is a short conch shell toss away offering swimming and an exposed beach for a few hours at low tide. If you are planning a quiet and relaxing vacation, you may not need anything else.

TAXI / TOURS
Taxi service is abundant and professional on Eleuthera. When you first arrive into the Governor's Harbour airport, you will find taxi service that will take you on the picturesque 9-mile drive to The Duck Inn. During your stay, taxi service can be arranged for transportation or to tour the island.

RENTAL CAR
If you are an island adventurer, then you definitely need a rental car. Eleuthera is over 100 miles long and there are a LOT of beautiful places and beaches to see. We highly recommend that you set out to see the sights of the island.

Rental cars on Eleuthera are usually older model vehicles that are well maintained. Rental vehicles range from standard cars to mini vans to 4-wheel drives, which are needed to get you to the more remote locations on the island. Rates can range from $60 to $70 a day, not including fuel.
Note: You might want to check your auto insurance policy to be sure that you are covered out of the country.

Be prepared to drive in the traditional manner - on the LEFT side of the road.
